Spiralizing - The benefits and our recipes

Hey everyone!

We're super excited to be announcing the start of our new Kin food blog. We’ll be updating it weekly and speaking about food trends, vegan/vegetarian lifestyle, new recipes and what were inspired about seasonally here at Kin.

Today we’re writing about spiralizing. We’ve been using this technique for most of this year, and we think it's a clever way to incorporate more veggies into our everyday diet and menu. Spiralizers are available on Amazon for about £15, and we believe they're a tool that really assists in eliminating unwanted carbohydrates in everyday life. Spiralizers are very easy to use, and transform veggies (such as carrots or courgette) into pasta-like noodles. These noodles are quite versatile and can be used in salads, soups or simply to garnish your favourite veggie dishes. Here at Kin, we're always trying to improve the way we eat and what we eat, and we think spiralized veggies really help us in that. We’ve included 2 recipes below that we feature occasionally. These recipes are raw, gluten free, sugar free and a delicious, alternative to your regular pesto pasta! We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

One of the main ingredients in the first recipe are melon seeds. They can be found at Whole Foods or any other health food store. Typically, pesto recipes involve nuts, but we think that the melon seeds add a pleasant bitterness alongside the peppery rocket. Melon seeds are high in protein, fibre, vitamin A and C as well as being fat free and containing no cholesterol. There is talk that melon seeds also help with the anti-ageing process and assist in youthful, vibrant looking skin. Sounds good to us!

We also love using carrots to make carrot noodles. The second recipe we’re featuring is truly a guilty pleasure, whilst still being super healthy. We love the creaminess and nuttiness of this recipe, and we often feature it here. We especially love this recipe, as it's so simple with only 6 ingredients including carrot! It is the perfect meal when you're in a rush, and consists of ingredients you would probably already have at home.
